3D Text Effect

I wanted to get some Photoshop practice in today, so I followed a tutorial on the Spoon Graphics website to create a custom 3D heavily utilizing the “Transform Again” technique.

Once again, I took the liberty of customizing the font, the content, and the color palette to something relevant to me.

Things I learned from this tutorial:

  • Using the “Transform Again” technique in Photoshop
  • Simulating shadows by nudging and repeating layer additions using shortcuts in Photoshop
  • Manipulating gradients, strokes, and other effects in Photoshop
  • Adding a grain texture to reduce the banding effect of the gradient background in Photoshop

I started out with a 3000 pixel wide by 2000 pixel wide canvas, and I used a free font from Google fonts, called Oleo Script.

Here was the final result:

“Take Care of Your Mental Health”.

Line Art Sticker

In an effort to get back into graphic design work, and start to upskill in a field that I love, I recently took a tutorial on the Spoon Graphics website.

I took the liberty of customizing the graphic to something relevant to me, so I strayed a bit from the exact details of the tutorial. I learned a bit though and I am happy with how the graphic turned out. I decided to have some stickers created from the graphic to share with my family.

Things I learned from this tutorial:

  • Manipulating stroke details (like caps) in Illustrator
  • Duplicating and reflecting objects in Illustrator
  • Using the scissor tool to trim lines in Illustrator
  • Transforming lines into waves in Illustrator
  • Using the Object > Blend effect in Illustrator
  • Using the Type on Path tool in Illustrator

Here was the final result:
